When I started this journey 27 years ago, my path was already quite distinct. As an engineer who cut his teeth in technology sales for industrial clients, my career spanned business development, field sales, design, and even running marketing and advertising at companies as varied as Intel (where I was a top-producing salesperson, when it was cool to work there) and US Robotics – a true pioneer in the modem era. At US Robotics, as employee #72, I learned invaluable lessons about running a small business, insights far beyond any textbook.

This diverse background taught me something crucial: I never saw myself as just a salesperson or just a marketer. Instead, I lived and breathed the critical, often contentious, space between sales and marketing. I watched as these two vital functions, despite their shared goal of driving revenue, operated in bitter silos, measured by different KPIs, and frequently at odds. The industry was, and frankly still often is, failing to put them on the same page.
